Deidamia (in Greek language|Greek ??????????????????; died 300 BC) was daughter of Aeacides of Epirus|Aeacides, king of Epirus, and sister of Pyrrhus of Epirus|Pyrrhus. While yet a girl she was betrothed by her father to Alexander IV of Macedon|Alexander IV, the son of Roxana and Alexander the Great, and having accompanied that prince and Olympias into Macedonia, was besieged in Pydna (316 BC) together with them.rf|1|plut1_4_diod_19.35_just_14.6 After the death of Alexander IV and Roxana in 309 BC, she was married to Demetrius I of Macedon|Demetrius Poliorcetes, at the time when the latter was endeavouring to establish his power in Hellenistic Greece|Greece, and thus became a bond of union between him and Pyrrhus.rf|2|plut2_25_plut1_4 When Demetrius proceeded to Asia to support his father Antigonus I Monophthalmus|Antigonus against the confederate kings, he left Deidamia at Athens; but after his defeat at battle of Ipsus|Ipsus (301 BC), the Athenians sent her away to Megara, though still treating her with regal honours. She soon after repaired to Cilicia to join Demetrius, who had just given his daughter Stratonice of Syria|Stratonice in marriage to Seleucus I Nicator|Seleucus, but had not been there long when she fell ill and died, 300 BC.rf|3|plut2_30_32 She left one son by Demetrius, named Alexander, who is said by Plutarch to have spent his life in History of Greek and Roman Egypt|Egypt, probably in an honourable captivity.rf|4|plut2_53
