The Global Fund for Women is a non-profit foundation that gives grants to organizations worldwide that focus on Women's rights|women's human rights. Its headquarters are in San Francisco, California. It was started in 1987 by Kiwi (people)|New Zealander Anne Firth Murray who served as President until her retirement in 1996. The fund reported assets in excess of USD$20 million in fiscal year 2004/2005, while distributing awards totaling USD$7.4 million during the same period.
