Ladies who lunch is a phrase to describe well-off women who meet for lunch socially, normally during the working time|working week. Typically, the women involved are marriage|married and non-working. Normally the lunch is in a restaurant, perhaps in a department store during shopping. Sometimes there is the pretext of raising money for Charitable organization|charity. "Ladies who lunch" were memorably skewered in Stephen Sondheim's Company (musical)|Company. The American Broadcasting Company|ABC television program|television series Desperate Housewives featured an episode "The Ladies Who Lunch (Desperate Housewives episode)|The Ladies Who Lunch". It was originally aired as Episode 16 on March 27, 2005.
