He is known for his muscular, well-proportioned body, and especially for his "washboard" abdominal muscles. Schenkenberg is 1.88 m tall (6 ft 2 in) and weighs 88 kg (185 lb). His career as a male supermodel started in 1989 when he was "discovered" by the photographer Barry King when roller skating on Venice, Los Angeles, California|Venice Beach, California, United States|USA. His breakthrough came in 1991 with the Calvin Klein Jeans campaign, shot by Bruce Weber and published in Vanity Fair. His first magazine cover was for Harper's Bazaar in the same year. He later modelled for Gianni Versace, Donna Karan, Ungaro and Calvin Klein, earning him a reputation for being the world???s most beautiful man, as well as making him the world???s highest paid male model. He has appeared in numerous fashion shows as well as in magazines like Vogue (magazine)|Vogue Italia and ELLE|Elle. In May 1992 Marcus Schenkenberg was named one of People (magazine)|People magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in the World. Schenkenberg has appeared as ???Tiny??? in the movie Prince Valiant (1997) , in Modern Talking (1999), Hostage (1999) (lead character), Dinner Rush (2000) and Meatballs and Macaroni. He has also appeared in TV programs and series as VIP (1998), the German series "Wetten, dass..?" (2000), As the World Turns, The Corlucci Cald Show (on Italian TV), La Grande Notte del Luned?? Sera (Italy) and Never Mind The Buzzcocks (2002) as well as ???La Talpa???, the Italian Version of "Celebriy Mole" (2004). He is the guest host of a sports program (soccer) on Italian TV, and also appeared on VH1's 4th of season of The Surreal Life with Da Brat, Joanie Laurer|Chyna, Jane Wiedlin, Christopher Knight, Verne Troyer, and Adrianne Curry. In 1997, he published a book, Marcus Schenkenberg, New Rules, which featured numerous photos and personal notes and comments about his career as a male supermodel, as well as contributions from colleagues, family members and people in the fashion and modelling business. Schenkenberg speaks six languages: Swedish_language|Swedish (his native tongue), Dutch_language|Dutch, German_language|German, French_language|French, Italian_language|Italian, and English_language|English.
