Mavia, also known as Mania or Mawia, was the warrior-queen of the Bedouin Saracens. She ruled at around 375 C.E., and rebelled against Roman rule, leading troops into Phoenicia, Palestine, and Egypt. The Romans finally made a truce with her, and she agreed to it due to the influence of the teachings of a Christian hermit.
