Placenta creta is any placental implantation in which there is abnormally firm adherence to the uterus|uterine wall. It is a consequence of partial or total absence of the decidua basalis and imperfect development of the fibrinoid layer (Nitabuch's layer). Three types of variations of Placenta creta exist:
