1 Introduction
Sexual health clinic

Wikipedia

A sexual health clinic is a clinic that specializes in treatment of human sexual behavior|sex-related problems. Sexual health clinics have been known as VD clinics, STD clinics and GUM clinics (GUM for genitourinary medicine).

Sexual health clinics offer a variety of services, which, depending on the clinic, can include:
  • advice on sexual problems

  • advice on safer sex

  • provision of contraception and emergency contraception

  • STD testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases

Because of the social stigma traditionally associated with sexually transmitted diseases, most sexual health clinics allow patients to be treated anonymously, if they wish.

Many sexual health clinics are attached to a nearby hospital's genitourinary medicine unit.
