Transition nuclear protein

Transition nuclear proteins (TNPs) are proteins that are involved in the packaging of sperm cell nucleus|nuclear DNA during spermiogenesis. They take the place of histones associated with the sperm DNA, and are subsequently themselves replaced by protamines.
